HAIDL – Flat Roof Tester: Professional tool for flat roof testing
Anyone wanting to permanently protect a flat roofneeds reliable testing methods – and the right roofing tools. The HAIDL flat roof tester is a specialized analysis and testing tool for roofing companies, experts, facility managers, and building owners who want to not only find damage but also understand its causes. Regular inspections allow for the identification of moisture ingress, material fatigue, or weak points in the roof structure– before costly consequential damage or repairs occur.
As a modern standard in roofing supplies, the HAIDL flat roof inspector supports a structured approach: from the initial visual inspection to targeted testing. This makes roof maintenance predictable, documentable, and significantly safer– especially for industrial and commercial roofs, public buildings, or residential complexes.
Practical application: professional sampling & condition analysis
The HAIDL flat roof tester is positioned vertically and in a controlled manner during inspection. Its wedge-shaped tip allows for precise entry into the roof structurewithout lateral slippage. The probe is then smoothly extended using the push-through handleand can be directly assessed (e.g., layer structure, moisture content, compaction). It is ideal for use during recurring maintenance intervals or on areas of suspected problem – such as around fixtures, penetrations, parapets, or drainage points.

Application steps for professional roof opening and testing with the HAIDL flat roof tester:
-
1. Positioning and heating:
The flat roof tester is positioned at the marked points and heated with a gas burner to bring it to the necessary temperature.
-
2. Penetration of the roof waterproofing:
The heated flat roof tester is screwed through the roof seal and thermal insulation up to the vapor barrier.
-
3. Sampling and visual inspection
A material sample is taken, pushed out by pressing the handle, and inspected. The resulting hole also provides insight into the roof structure.
-
4. Reinserting the sample
The removed material sample is reinserted after testing.
The reinserted test piece, in conjunction with the sealing carried out in the next step , does not result in the roof losing any insulating effect. -
5. Sealing the reinserted sample
The opened area is then securely sealed with an initial bitumen sealant.
